What
do glucosamine and chondroitin do?
Past studies show that
some people with mild to moderate osteoarthritis (OA) taking either
glucosamine or chondroitin sulfate reported pain relief at a level similar
to that of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin and
ibuprofen. Some research indicates that the supplements might also slow
cartilage damage in people with OA. Definitive results about the effects of
these supplements are expected from an in-depth clinical study currently
being conducted by the National Institutes of Health.
What are
Glucosamine and
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)?
Glucosamine
and MSM are substances found naturally in the body. Glucosamine is a form of
amino sugar that is believed to play a role in cartilage formation and
repair. Methylsulfonylmethane or MSM supports healthy connective tissues, such as
tendons and muscles.
Both glucosamine and MSM
are sold as dietary or nutritional supplements. Glucosamine is extracted
from crab, lobster or shrimp shells. MSM is a natural occurring Sulfer
component found in the body. The levels of MSM have been shown to decline as
we age. MSM has had a long history as a healing agent. In recent years
athletes and fitness enthusiasts, as well as arthritis sufferers have begun
to rely on MSM to reduce soreness and inflammation associated with injuries,
strained or cramped muscles, and stiff joints*.
What are the advantages of taking
OsteoFizz
Complete™
in solution over taking a medication in tablet form?
There are multiple
advantages to using the effervescent OsteoFizz Complete™ joint, bone, and cartilage
care over cumbersome pill formulations. Simply put, OsteoFizz Complete™
dissolves fast
and is ready
to go to work the instant you take it. Because the
ingredients in OsteoFizz Complete™ are in solution prior to ingestion, they
do not require time to
dissolve in the stomach like similar active ingredients
taken in tablet form. This is good news for your knees and other problem
joint areas.
Why should I take
OsteoFizz Complete™?
OsteoFizz
Complete™ packs a full
daily allowance of calcium and clinically studied amounts of MSM, glucosamine and
chondroitin into a refreshing citrus drink mix that is gentle on
your stomach. This unique combination is designed to provide your joints,
bones, and cartilage with regenerative amounts of calcium, chondroitin, MSM, and glucosamine.
What is osteoarthritis?
An estimated 21 million adults in the United States live with
osteoarthritis--one of the most common types of arthritis. Osteoarthritis,
also called degenerative joint disease, is caused by the breakdown of
cartilage, which is the connective tissue that cushions the ends of bones
within the joint. It is characterized by pain, joint damage, and limited
motion. The disease generally occurs late in life, and most commonly affects
the hands and large weight-bearing joints. Although the disease can impact
several joints, the knees are often affected. Age, female gender, and
obesity are risk factors for this condition.
Who Benefits from Using
OsteoFizz Complete™?
OsetoFizz Complete™
is for anyone needing a daily source of calcium, chondroitin, MSM, and glucosamine in an easily digestible form.
Can I dissolve
OsteoFizz
Complete™ tablets in something other than water?
We do not recommend
anything but water. While the tablets will dissolve in other liquids, the
time to full dissolution will change. Also, efficacy and
safety have not been established when these products are dissolved in
anything but water.
What is
Bioavailability?
In
pharmacology, bioavailability is used to describe the fraction of an
administered dose of medication that reaches the systemic circulation, one
of the principal pharmacokinetic properties of drugs. By definition, when a
medication is administered intravenously, its bioavailability is 100%.
However, when a medication is administered via other routes (such as by
mouth), its bioavailability decreases (due to incomplete absorption and
first-pass metabolism. Bioavailability is one of the essential tools in
pharmacokinetics, as bioavailability must be considered when calculating
dosages for non-intravenous routes of administration.
Sometimes there is a residue in the glass
after I take
OsteoFizz Complete™.
Does it need to be consumed?
You do not have to drink
the residue on the sides and the bottom of the glass. All the medicines are
in the water.
What temperature of water should I use to
dissolve
OsteoFizz Complete™?
The best temperature is
room temperature. Cold water will slow down dissolution and warm water can
make it foam excessively.
How often do I take OsteoFizz Complete™ ?
If you
decide to take these supplements, consult your doctor about the proper
dosage. The amount used in studies of glucosamine was 1,500 mg per day and
in studies of chondroitin sulfate, 1,200 mg per day was used. You can try
the supplements along with your current medications for six to eight weeks.
If you don't experience any difference in your symptoms within a few months,
you probably will not get any relief from using the supplements.
Are there side effects when taking
OsteoFizz
Complete™?
The most
common side effects when taking joint care supplements are increased intestinal gas and softened stools. If you
experience these problems, you might want to try another supplement brand
before you stop using them altogether. More studies
need to be done to confirm the safety and effectiveness of the supplements.
Be sure to contact your doctor if you notice any unusual or new symptoms
while you are taking them.
